Still beautiful even though it feel from the vine. I posted my clematis vine in bloom today for Wordless Wed. too, tho my shot isn't as good as yours. Happy WW! Chris
Kind of sad but touching in that the cycle of life is so present in the picture... I guess there is a teeny fertilized seed in there, ready to sprout? Or, maybe the fertilized seed remains on the plant, and the flower, having done it's job of attracting a pollinator, has just gone "the way of all things"... This shot reminds me of being a kid in CA and going tidepooling, surrounded by starfish, anemones, colorful creatures and feeling like Godzilla towering over them.
Kind of neat the spot that flower is growing in. Looks protected by the rocks. Is it in the woods, or in your garden?
I actually have a WW post ready for next week that is a very similar flower. I found it while out on a hike. Next Wednesday we can compare them side by side and see if we think they share the same genus.
Will, this flower is on the ground, next to a retaining wall near my house. It is a rhody bloom that had fallen on the ground, hence the caption, "Fall From Grace"
I love your eye. I am working on that with my picture taking. I don't know if I can call it photography really if I am primarily just taking pix of my son and husband. : )
A lover of art in all it’s forms, I strive to express myself in a manner that allows others to see the world through my eyes. By Jennifer Robin and Robin’s Woods are a homage to my darling mother whose greatest unfulfilled passion was self expression. I hope I make her proud.
Jennifer Robin is the name that my darling mother had chosen for me. Alas, she was overruled, but I honor her by using it here and whenever I can. Curiously enough, Jennifer and Robin have the same meanings as my given first and middle names. Some things were just meant to be.
Where I live...
Robin’s Woods, of course. My husband and I call a log cabin in the midst of our 42 acres of forest our home, and are amongst thousands more wooded acres. It is our very own personal paradise, definitely a wish-come-true.

It's a lovely shot, but kind of sad. Especially after seeing all the happy flowers yesterday. :D
